During the 1960s through 1990s, architect and photographer Charles William “Bill” Brubaker (1926-2002) photographically documented examples of significant architecture and design of the urban environment in the Chicago area and in other cities that he lived in or visited. This collection consists of slides taken by Brubaker.

The Montgomery Ward Catalog and Retail Sales building (Mail Order House), and the Montgomery Ward Administration building stand along the east bank of the river. The John Hancock Center is under construction in the distance.
