Industrial land and Montgomery Ward Company buildings

The land in the foreground was occupied by Consolidated Royal Chemical Corporation (657 West Chicago Avenue) and H. Goodman & Sons at the time of the photograph. The Montgomery Ward Catalog and Retail Sales building (Mail Order House), and the Montgomery Ward Administration building stand along the east bank of the river. The John Hancock Center is under construction in the distance.
