Great Court and Walkway demolition, University of Illinois at Chicago

 

View east during the dismantling and removal of the Great Court and elevated walkway system. Concrete "butterfly" columns which supported the Great Court and elevated walkway are in the foreground between the Lecture Center buildings. One of the exedrae atop the Great Court is at the upper left. The Library is in the background at the top of the photograph. The Great Court, Circle Forum, and elevated walkway system were demolished over a six-year period extending from 1993 to 1999.
