1933 Hull-House Yearbook, p. 29, notes "During the Spring of 1933, Les Modernes, a social group composed of Italian boys and girls under the direction of Helen Rusilla, became interested in the art of making puppets. Their creative study of this art included not only the performance but also the construction of the stage and sets as well as the designing of the puppets."
