Notes
:
An historical novel about a Jamaican man who witnessed the rebellion of 1865 and narrates the story in his own words. Reid, like many Caribbean novelists, saw the novel especially, but not exclusively, as a means of recapturing a lost history through imaginative forms. He was especially interested in doing so in his young people's literature.
