The sculpture depicts several of the city's iconic skyscrapers, including the John Hancock building and the Sears Tower (now Willis Tower), arrayed in a fan shape and interspersed with large metal feathers, suggesting a Native American headdress. A group of wild onions are depicted in the center of the sculpture, and a curved panel below the cluster of onions bears the inscription "and the Illini called it Che Ca Gou".
