Craftmobile flyer, Hyde Park Neighborhood Club

Starting in the early 1960's, the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club (HPNC) had a "craftmobile", a large blue truck that visited play lots throughout the neighborhood. The craftmobile was staffed by local volunteers who led children in arts and crafts activities like painting and mask-making.

In 1962, the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club opened the first study center for grade school children in the city of Chicago. They opened this second location in 1963 at the First Baptist Church at 5039 S. Greenwood Avenue. It provided tutoring and homework help for neighborhood children.
