Community Activities bring the city's government into the neighborhood. Mayor Richard J. Daley's campaign for a cleaner Chicago reached out to students in Chicago's schools and made them part of the Junior Citizen's Committee for a Cleaner Chicago.

Boats at Calumet Marina, Calumet River

Boats are pulled up along the bank of the river for winter storage. The side of a flat-bottomed riverboat is painted with the words "Boat Rides 13400 Torrence Avenue". Grain storage elevators are visible on the horizon at the left.
