Hyde Park Study Center pamphlet
The Hyde Park Study Center was founded in 1962 and was the first Chicago-area study center for grade school children. In addition to tutoring, the Study Center had a library and a bookshop. It also maintained the "Brotherhood Books" collection of children's books on African American themes and topics.

In 1962, the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club opened the first study center for grade school children in the city of Chicago. They opened this second location in 1963 at the First Baptist Church at 5039 S. Greenwood Avenue. It provided tutoring and homework help for neighborhood children.
