Boats at Calumet Marina, Calumet River
View looking northwest from Calumet Marina, located along the east bank of the Calumet River at East 136th Street and South Torrence Avenue. Boats are pulled up along the bank of the river for winter storage. The side of a flat-bottomed riverboat is painted with the words "Boat Rides 13400 Torrence Avenue". Grain storage elevators are visible on the horizon at the left.

View of an industrial area along the North Branch of the Chicago River, looking west from the North Halsted Street bridge at the southern end of Goose Island. Part of the facilities of the Material Service Corporation (later Prairie Material, Ready Mix Yard No. 32), located on the west bank of the river (835 North Peoria Street) are visible in the foreground and on the left. The North Branch of the Chicago River, which flows along the west side of Goose Island, is visible near the center, as well as a group of concrete storage silos (demolished). The Lissner Corporation plant, located on North Branch Street on Goose Island (later Kendall College), is on the right.

The Centennial Fountain arcs across the river in the foreground, and behind it, North McClurg Court runs north from the river.

At the far right part is a Peoples Gas Light & Coke Company gas holder, part of the former Willow Street Station Manufactured Gas Plant Site (demolished).

The West Kinzie Street bridge spans the river in the lower foreground, and large parking lots cover the land on either side. Further upriver, in the upper part of the photograph, are the West Grand Avenue bridge and, directly behind it, the Ohio Street bridge. The Montgomery Ward Catalog and Retail Sales building (Mail Order House), and the Montgomery Ward Administration building are just visible on the upper right of the photograph.
