Industrial buildings including the Wallace Press Building and Kirchheimer Brothers Paper Company (417 West Ohio Street) are visible behind and to the left of the Sexton Building. The Montgomery Ward & Company Headquarters tower (now The Montgomery condominiums) stands out against the sky on the far left.

Industrial areas along the North Branch of the Chicago River
View northwest along the North Branch of the Chicago River from the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza Hotel (350 W. Mart Center Drive). The West Kinzie Street bridge spans the river in the lower foreground, and large parking lots cover the land on either side. Further upriver, in the upper part of the photograph, are the West Grand Avenue bridge and, directly behind it, the Ohio Street bridge. The Wallace Press Building stands along North Kingsbury Street on the east side of the river. Behind it are the Montgomery Ward Catalog and Retail Sales building (Mail Order House), the Montgomery Ward Administration building, and the Montgomery Ward Headquarters tower (now The Montgomery condominiums).

Lissner Corporation warehouse, Goose Island
View looking north at the Lissner Corporation warehouse (later Pickens-Kane warehouse), located on the west side of North Branch Street between West Bliss Street and West Haines Streets. The railroad tracks of the Milwaukee Road line which formerly serviced this area are embedded in the street.

Part of a former paddle-wheel steamboat renamed the Showboat Sari-S II is moored along the riverbank in the foreround. Behind it is the industrial area along North Kingsbury Street. The side of the Ontario Building at 411 West Ontario Street (now Ontario Street Lofts) is visible on the far right. The rear of the two-story factory building at 445 West Erie Street is visible on the left, behind the yellow train cars. The John Hancock Center and other skyscrapers of the Near North Side are silhouetted against the horizon.

View looking northeast from the intersection of North Orleans and West Erie Streets, towards the rear of the Orleans-Huron Building, a concrete-framed eight story warehouse at 325 West Huron Street. At the time of the photograph, Helix was a tenant. The property in the foreground at the northeast corner of West Erie Street and North Orleans Street occupied by a gas station (later demolished) is for rent. The side facade of 308 West Erie Street is visible at the far right, and behind it to the left, part of the Bauer Building is visible.
