Industrial land and Montgomery Ward Company buildings
View to the east along West Chicago Avenue from west of the North Branch of the Chicago River, with the Chicago Avenue bridge visible. The land in the foreground was occupied by Consolidated Royal Chemical Corporation (657 West Chicago Avenue) and H. Goodman & Sons at the time of the photograph. The Montgomery Ward Catalog and Retail Sales building (Mail Order House), and the Montgomery Ward Administration building stand along the east bank of the river. The John Hancock Center is under construction in the distance.

Industrial areas along the North Branch of the Chicago River
View northwest along the North Branch of the Chicago River from the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza Hotel (350 W. Mart Center Drive). The West Kinzie Street bridge spans the river in the lower foreground, and large parking lots cover the land on either side. Further upriver, in the upper part of the photograph, are the West Grand Avenue bridge and, directly behind it, the Ohio Street bridge. The Wallace Press Building stands along North Kingsbury Street on the east side of the river. Behind it are the Montgomery Ward Catalog and Retail Sales building (Mail Order House), the Montgomery Ward Administration building, and the Montgomery Ward Headquarters tower (now The Montgomery condominiums).

Hubbard Street Railway Yard and Near North Side
View from the Hubbard Street Yard of the Chicago & North Western Railway, with Near North Side buildings beyond. The John Sexton Building (located at Illinois and Orleans Streets) is visible at the right, behind the passenger train. Behind that is the John Hancock Center. The Wallace Press Building is partially visible at the far left.

View looking southwest across North Kingsbury Street towards the Fulton House Condominiums (originally North American Cold Storage Company warehouse), located at 345 North Canal Street. The old Kinzie Street railroad bridge is visible, permanently locked in the raised position. The entrance to the East Bank Club's underground parking garage is in the foreground.

Chicago River and Dearborn Street bridge
View northeast across the Chicago River to the Near North side. The Dearborn Street bridge is on the left of the image, and a single-story building and industrial land occupies the site where Marina City now stands. Behind that, 33 West Kinzie Street (now Harry Caray's restaurant, originally Chicago Varnish Company) is visible. To the left of it, the top part of the former Cook County Criminal Court Building (now Court House Place) located at 54 West Hubbard Street, is visible.
