Mies van der Rohe office buildings
View to the west from the Chicago River, with three of Mies' office buildings. Two Illinois Center (233 North Michigan Avenue) is under construction on the left. One Illinois Center (111 East Wacker Drive) stands next to it. Both these buildings are part of the Illinois Center complex. The IBM building (330 North Wabash) stands on the right, behind the old Sun-Times building. In the foreground, land along the south side of the Chicago River has been cleared for development.

The Franklin Street bridge is in the middle of the image, and part of the Merchandise Mart is visible on the right. Fulton House Condominiums (originally North American Cold Storage Company warehouse), located at 345 North Canal Street, is visible behind the Apparel Center.

The Butler Brothers Warehouse I (later River Center) is in the distance, with a John Plain & Company sign on its clock tower.
