Lionheart gal: life stories of Jamaican women
The front cover illustration is based on a scene described in one of the life stories in the book. It shows four Caribbean women of great spiritual power defending their yard from theives and invaders. In yellow is Erzule, the Haitian goddess of sexuality; in blue is Yemaya, the Yoruba mother goddess; in white is Obatala, the androgynous god/dess of purity, turth, peace, justice and wisdom; and in red is Ni, the guerilla warrior priestess and queen of the Maroons.
