The West Adams Street bridge runs across the center of the image, and two of the buildings in the Gateway Center complex are behind it on the left. The Butler Brothers Warehouse I (later River Center) is in the distance, with a John Plain & Company sign on its clock tower.

View northeast across the Chicago River to the Near North side. The Dearborn Street bridge is on the left of the image, and a single-story building and industrial land occupies the site where Marina City now stands. Behind that, 33 West Kinzie Street (now Harry Caray's restaurant, originally Chicago Varnish Company) is visible. To the left of it, the top part of the former Cook County Criminal Court Building (now Court House Place) located at 54 West Hubbard Street, is visible.
