Bird's-eye view sketch by C. William Brubaker of the industrial, storage, and shipping facilities adjacent to Lake Calumet harbor, in the area north of East 130th Street, east of the Calumet Expressway (now Bishop Ford Freeway), and west of South Torrence Avenue.

On the right is a Peoples Gas Light & Coke Company gas holder, part of the former Willow Street Station Manufactured Gas Plant Site (demolished).

View looking north along the North Branch of the Chicago River from the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza Hotel (350 W. Mart Center Drive). There is a large parking lot in the right foreground. On the left side of the image, the river is spanned by the West Grand Avenue bridge and the Ohio Street bridge. The Wallace Press building stands along North Kingsbury Street between the two bridges. Behind it are the Montgomery Ward Catalog and Retail Sales building (Mail Order House), the Montgomery Ward Administration building, and the Montgomery Ward & Company Headquarters tower (now The Montgomery condominiums).

Forming the skyline to its right are the Equitable Building (401 North Michigan Avenue), the Tribune Tower, and the Sheraton Hotel (originally the Medinah Club building.)

Buildings along the west bank of the Chicago River at Wolf Point
View looking northwest looking over the Chicago River from West Wacker Drive just west of North Franklin Street. The low-rise buildings at 212 and 222 North Canal Street still stand, as well as the tall smokestack adjacent to them (located at the junction of North Clinton, West Fulton and West Milwaukee Streets). The Braun Bottles plant (now replaced by Left Bank at K Station) is visible, with a Metra train running on the elevated tracks behind it. The red brick warehouse building slightly to the left behind Braun Bottles was converted to the 600 West Fulton office building. At the far right of the image is Wolf Point, with the Fulton House Condominiums, a converted former warehouse building at 345 North Canal Street, visible across the river behind it. Part of the Cassidy Tire Company building (344 North Canal Street) is visible behind the condominium building.

A tugboat with a barge attached is moored along the west bank of the river, adjacent to an industrial area. A number of industrial buildings, including the Wallace Press Building, and Kirchheimer Brothers Paper Company (417 West Ohio Street) stand along North Kingsbury Street on the east side of the river. The Montgomery Ward Catalog and Retail Sales building (Mail Order House) and the Montgomery Ward Administration building are further north, along the east bank of the river. The Montgomery Ward & Company Headquarters tower rises to their right. At the far left, multiple railroad tracks are visible.
