About this Collection

On October 21, 1946, a temporary branch of the University of Illinois was established at Chicago’s Navy Pier to accommodate the increasing number of GI Bill students returning from war. This collection consists of images of the Chicago Undergraduate Division at Navy Pier taken between 1946 and 1948 by photographer Thomas Fehr. The photos were taken for use in the school catalog, Pier Illini and later the yearbook The Brave.
