A Century of Progress International Exposition was held in Chicago during the summers of 1933 and 1934 to commemorate the incorporation of the city in 1833. This collection consists of the extant operating records of A Century Progress World's Fair.

The opening ceremony of A Century of Progress.

Promoters used the star Arcturus to ceremoniously open A Century of Progress in 1933. It was believed that the light of Arcturus took 40 years to reach the Earth, and this fact was used as a way to connect the Century of Progress with Chicago's earlier world fair in 1893.
